[Even though the video first opens up with what is obviously a young woman, probably in her late teens or early twenties, the voice that comes through is obviously a man of distinguished speaking skill. Well, at least it doesn't seem to be coming from the young woman, as her mouth isn't moving]

"-the screen flickers, obviously doing something. You think it might be broadcasting."

[The young woman sighs, and when she speaks, yeah, it's obviously not the male voice that spoke moments earlier]

Broadcasting to who? I'm probably just going to get some NPC...

... jeez, what the hell is this, anyway? My status screen is different now... did I grind all those skills for nothing? At least I figured out how to sneak past all those winged freaks after the first few game-overs...

Maybe if I'm lucky, some tutorial character is going to pop up... yeah, right.

It's a netherworld, though the locals don't call it by it's proper name. More specifically, you've been enrolled in the finest institute of Higher Learning. Which is to say, a school with no classes and teachers who always avoid the students, who never graduate.

Oh, and the only purpose of this school is to rack up an incredible debt in everyone who attends.

They're all truant officers who want you to go to class and learn how to fight demons and join their army. I mean, you're perfectly welcome to do that, if you want to support their brainwashing and questionable morality.

Pretty much. Practically everybody else either complains about their problems or sells me stuff.

There's only one person who seems aware of much of anything outside their script, and she ended up being the main villain.

Scripted? Most NPCs don't care about you much, but they can at least respond semi-intelligently. Why, most of the ones here have their own agendas.

It runs on the principles of Narrative Causality if that is what you mean-good story takes precedence over other things.
