First Waltz - Welcome to Room 302, Sucker

Well. Catherine Elstwhere apparently has some adjustments to make regarding her room. This place might actually be worse than some of the prisons she's been to, at least the ones that didn't involve kidnappers with chains and delusions of Catherine being a Princess.

She looks with dismay from her VERY full bags of luggage to her VERY small closet and sighs, doing Outfit Triage.

Then she logs on to her myPhone. And checks her student ID. And howls in outrage.

"Huraine's shapely bosom, I'm the Duchess Elstwhere, WHY is my title listed as 'Pervy Elf Fancier!?'"

Way to tell the entire dorm, Cath. Just saying.

Rozalin wasn't going to press for details, just nod and smile slightly. "Yes, I do sense a certain degree of kinship here. Have you met Princess Kaguya yet? We have our little meetings now and then here, she and I." Now there could be three or more at their little tea-parties if they invited Evangeline.

"Grinding levels and the elegant art of leveling up are a time-honored tradition here. But there is seldom reason to go it solo. You should at least find someone willing to take you to the nurse's facilities and make sure you do not awaken with two left arms."

She winces a little at the title 'princess,' but stifles the expression. No one could be as bad as Princess Arugula. Yeah, keep telling yourself that, Cath.

"If you would do me the honor of introducing the Princess Kaguya, you would have my thanks. And if you are ever in need of a healer on your expeditions -" she pauses. "Forgive me for asking so bluntly, but as I would prefer not to deal you harm, should I be using Cure spells?"

She defaults to channeling positive energy, love-love energy even, and that's not fun for the demons and devils of her world to put it mildly.

Rozalin catches the expression though but misinterprets. "She is regrettably in exile, but as far as I know, is quite happy in her current state. And You will have that introduction at our convenience, I am sure.." The next question on the other hand, raised Rozalin's eyebrows slightly.

"You make a distinction? Well, I believe that cure spells should work-I dabble a bit in magic myself, but outside of ice and a bit of healing you could learn from a pamphlet, I know relatively little." How much healing could you learn from a pamphlet anyways?

"No, no, High-op. Slightly different. Overpowered is your world's metaphorical DM not giving you challenges that match your level of optimization. High-op is making him work harder to do so."

Kyoko blushed slightly. She still can't handle compliments well. "I-I'm just doing what My Lady has taught me."

"You can propose a bill to get your title changed, but if you don't word it right, it may become worse"

"Whilst on the subject, my world's metaphorical DM needs to develop a better sense of humor, one not involving cruelty and bondage." She sighs. "Optimized, then. I suppose I have a head start on that given my divine magic."

The Duchess nods. "The distinction between positive and negative energies on my world matters. Curative spells will harm things that are not strictly speaking alive, and creatures of darkness. The theory is that they are so far gone that healing would return them to death, a sort of stack overflow error of the gods. Given the nature of this academy, I felt the question prudent."

"I should like to meet your lady, at some point convenient to her. We would have much to discuss."

She nods. "Ah. Court. I have spent much of my life in attendance at court. I can spend more of it here."

"Knowing the accusation is quite helpful for the defendant, yes." She has no idea what NEET means, either, but winces at princess.

"May I enquire as to why you seem to be wearing your pet?"

Pet? I am currently not, nor do I ever plan on, wearing either of my pets.

"I was referring to the rabbit. Of course, I think I understand the confusion."

A beat.

"Hopefully not."

"Ahh, this could be a problem." Rozalin frowned and tapped a finger to her chin. "I am unquestionably dark, but I am also unquestionably alive." Therein lay the crux of the matter. "I suppose I lean more towards the alive and not horrible and beyond redemption side. but it is hard to say without some sort of test."

Oh, her? She's not my pet, sadly. I may think of them as pets sometimes, but it's certainly not a fact.

"Are they perhaps a symbol of office? I have known royal hounds to be."

No. I suppose a more apt word would be that we are allies.

[The duchess may or may not notice a few more rabbits flying around in the background. Yes, flying]

"I see." The duchess curtseys. "Forgive me. I had assumed you to be human. I should know better than to assume."

[Kaguya acknowledges with a short, Japanese style bow]

An understandable assumption! I am, in fact, a Lunarian.

Hm, I haven't introduced myself yet, have I? I am Princess Kaguya Houraisan. A pleasure.

Kyoko frowns. "Sadly, My Lady is not here yet. I do hope she arrives though, I miss her terribly."

"This court is... different from human courts..."

Megaera couldn't help but chuckle a little, as she stepped closer a bit.

"Oh? Sounds like some interesting stories."

(OOC: Permission to use Megaera's charm abilities some?)

She chuffs. "Interesting in the Cathayan sense, perhaps. I have seen my share of troubles, mostly from people who think my position higher than it is."

Catherine pats her bed beside her, 'you can sit here.'

Megaera sat down by Catherine, smiling as she used one of her spell-like abilities - good old Charm Person, capable of shifting the target's thoughts so that they'd perceive Megaera as a good friend.

Of course, she'd memorized a couple spells for heightening the effects, but she'd start here for now, to test the girl's mental defenses a bit.

"A long history, huh?"

Against Catherine at the beginning of her adventures in Wulfhammer, you'd have made a friend automatically. Against her 7 Cleric levels, a ton of Wisdom and Louni Quickfinger's training later, you can practically hear the charm bounce off her Teflon coating.

"A long engagement, and people who mistook me for the Princess Aerisland. I got kidnapped rather a lot, although having the arm and the ear of an adventuring warlord helped a great deal."

Megaera blinked. She could tell the girl was lower-level than her. Clearly, she had some training for resisting such magics. Time to try something a single notch stronger.

"Oh? Tell me a little more about them."

The magical suggestion in her words would hopefully bypass Catherine's defenses, getting her to talk more without realizing a spell had made her do so.

Hrm. Where to go from here, though, if it worked?
