[It was in fact a very swift robot, as that arm proved by suddenly revving up to full speed and resolving into a blur instead of a solid object.

More troublesome, it was built like a tiny mecha-no vulnerable exposed cabling or obvious fuel lines, reinforced joints, just that brass tuba-like thing on it's back. And even that didn't actually look like a weakness.]

[Crap. It was hard to stay on a moving robot, even she wasn't as fast as this particular machine. She WAS, however, going to make sure she didn't get hurt too bad. That last fight with Pamela, she hadn't even expected she would need her Barrier Jacket. Against big ass robot that was taller than her though? She wasn't taking any chances.]

[The jacket initiated, and she made sure she was already in pistol mode, taking two shots at the offending robot].

[The shots sparked off it's armor as the big guy came in and then stopped short as Mir cuts in]

[Mindy swore audibly, but wasn't about to continue fighting: she didn't have anyone here who could fix her barrier jacket if it was destroyed, an as the jacket had a mind of its own, she wouldn't do that. She depowered, then was back in her regular clothes].

Hmm, not one of the ones I know. I suppose the multiverse is vast and infinite but this is a little strange, to come at the same thing from two sides like this. I could work out the odds, but they would be total bullshit and guesswork.

Trust me, as far as multiverses go, I've seen my share of shit that was strange. Before the two years, I was only as good as any normal human.

It's amazing what people can do when they tell themselves that they are heroes or doing the right thing.

The only gripe I have with the multiverse right now is that it's keeping me away from my boyfriend just as things were getting serious.

It's even more amazing when you know what the people you're going against are willing to do to you to make sure no one wants to defend themselves again.

Power isn't everything. Words can do more than a million swords or guns, if delivered at the right time and place. Most of these demons seem pretty ignorant of that.

[Mir drops her fake school uniform in favor of her stripper armor-clearly made from some sort of graphine-composite material, but with strategic cut outs that point arrows at her body. It's somewhere between a bikini and a plugsuit.]

[Of course, even Mindy, who is far from a flagrant pervert, has to at least take a moment to appreciate the suit and shake her head.

Whoever her boyfriend was, he was lucky.]

[Fortuneately, because demons are lazy and the school is big, there are 'branch line' dimension gates all over the place. Through one and out through another, then up three flights of stairs puts them within sight at least of a nearby blasted wasteland.]

[Mir closes her eyes and begins to sing-this one takes a while to warm up and the magic circle under her feet expands only slowly, a few inches a second at most. Unlike other ones Mindy might have seen, this looks more like an osciliscope, waves vibrating furiously within it in strange patterns.]

Yeah, that's fine. I guess I should get used to weird things that are awesome.

[Look under her feet at the expanding spell circle. it looked really awesome to begin with, but she was more fascinated by what was going to come out of it.]
