Well. Catherine Elstwhere apparently has some adjustments to make regarding her room. This place might actually be worse than some of the prisons she's been to, at least the ones that didn't involve kidnappers with chains and delusions of Catherine being a Princess.

She looks with dismay from her VERY full bags of luggage to her VERY small closet and sighs, doing Outfit Triage.

Then she logs on to her myPhone. And checks her student ID. And howls in outrage.

"Huraine's shapely bosom, I'm the Duchess Elstwhere, WHY is my title listed as 'Pervy Elf Fancier!?'"

Way to tell the entire dorm, Cath. Just saying.

"Hence my request for a subtler title. Ocules knows I have too many of them, and they chose THAT one..."

She appraises the newcomer and her status screen. "Another Overlord? You're the second I've seen today."

"That is a skill I find I exercise much too often." She sighs and plays with her wedding band.

She turns to the newcomer and her status screen. Somehow she keeps a straight face, with just the beginning of a smile. "Goodness, it seems that they make a habit of insisting on strange titles."

"But you then choose to howl and gripe about it instead of doing something secretive and productive. Hardly the actions of a woman shamed."

Rozalin nodded. "Indeed, there are three of us, Myself, 'Badass' Overlord Zetta, and Veluna. I am Princess Rozalin, rightful Overlord of Veldime. Might I ask which of the others you have met?" Thank you for not mentioning the incarnate bit, or asking what that means.

"Then you're from a long line of royalty. And munchkins." Not a term she would have used before meeting the Fellowship, but the concept of 'person who exploits the system' was one that this noblewoman understood very well.

"Oh, no. I had my title customized back in my own Netherworld."

[Kyoko was walking by when she heard the howl. She runs over to see what is wrong.]

Oh my, are you ok in here? Did you get an embarrassing Title?

"It certainly seems so," the Duchess sighed. "It seems to be a habit. I shouldn't be so relieved that it's common."

"Allow me to properly introduce myself as the Duchess Elstwhere." She curtseys low, revealing several white petticoats under her princess-pink dress.

Catherine laughs, a hand-over-mouth titter, causing her solid gold tiara to list slightly: with her other hand, she tilts it back into position. "In my experience, the howling and griping is a useful and theraputic first step to finding the proper channels to address a problem. As for the other Overlords, are you familiar with the -" she pauses. "-Well, her given title was Gigolo Overlord."

"Well, it may be, but it is hardly conducive to secrecy. So I would conclude that you don't actually mind the title terribly as a joke, but would prefer it not to be your primary." Logical. A demoness to watch-or simply to tie in knots?

"And yes, that would be Veluna. She is half-succubus, I believe, but you would hardly know it from her deeds and words." Rozalin rubbed her temples. "She has asked me to fight her on every day since her arrival."

"Asked for a fight." Her voice is flat. She puts a hand over her heart, looks to the side, and sighs. Consider it half a facepalm and half an eyeroll. "Yes, it was definitely your Veluna that I met. Optimized doesn't begin to cover her build."

"I am not ashamed of what I did for Lady Falwythwr, although I wouldn't put it the way it's commonly. But I am The Duchess Elstwhere first and foremost. I am Elstwhere's guardian, protector, and sovereign, and I will not have that denied to me!"

[rose_liberated]

"Not mine, certainly. And I do not know about optimized, merely zealous. Most overlords command vast power without much subtlety or need for optimization." Rozalin harumphed and waggled a finger at the camera then, a warning against action. "Do not take that to mean they are easy marks-we simply are not slaves to fashionable builds. Far better to have real character, than to be a pure machine of destruction like a Majin or one of those new-model Androids."

"Did for her? Or to her perhaps? Should I fear for the safety of my own ears, they are quite elflike." Rozalin schooled herself and continued. "I understand your objections however-I am Veldime's Overlord, by blood and by steel, and I am not happy about being separated from it."

"Some people get lucky, but most of the time it is very insulting or embarrassing."

"A duchess," Kyoko asks curiously. "I've only meet a few other human royalty. It is an honor to meet you."

Kyoko bows deeply. "I am Kyoko Needleworker, and I would be happy to assist you in anyway I can."

Um... papa was actually pretty tall.

"It's a figure of speech where I come from." For what, she doesn't mention.

"I don't suppose combat training is among the courses offered here? I suddenly feel the urge to grind levels."

"You changed it to Overpowered Hottie." Her expression is one part disbeleiving to one part We Are Not Amused. "Well. I would want to be known as overpowered, anyway."

[... the sad thing is, Veluna should know what munchkin is referring to...]

I don't know, I haven't tried going to class.

"Falwythwr and I were very close." No, she's not going to go into any further details. "And it seems that we are akin, that way. Duty and honor and accomplishment bound up in two words. Truly it is said that magic is in a 'spell.'"

"And I have no desire to enter fights I cannot win, fear not. Though I feel the urge to grind levels, suddenly. At least I've a good soloing class for it."

Spoilers: Any attempt to change her title will fail.

"Thank you, Kyoko. You are most kind." The ninja before her somehow reminds Catherine of her maid, Alice - Kyoko and her had that kind of empathy in common.

"Is there a way to appeal for a change in title?"

"And that's allowed? Back home the teachers would chase you to class with a mace. Or whip. Or other weapon."

While this is true of the universities in the real middle ages, her tutor was also a special case.

It's the Netherworld. Students that don't go to class are honor students.

The teachers probably don't show up to teach, either.

"That seems misguided. A very wise, if horribly evil person once told me that skilled is not the same as good."

You know, if she's quoting an antipaladin things are really getting to her.

[Shrug] Most demons have a funny sense of what evil is in the Netherworld.

"I see. It is gratifying to know that Lawful Stupid has a counterpart in the forces of darkness."

You should be careful of the demons that really are evil, though. Like my half-cockatrice brother.

Catherine sighs and slumps down on her bed. "I shall see you outside of class, I suppose. I need to get the lay of the land. Thank you for the... instructive fight."
